Surrealism
Andre Breton launched Surrealism in 1924 through its first
manifesto. Surrealism emerged out of the chaos and spontaneity and anarchy of
Dadaism. Surrealists wanted to change the way that people think. They wanted to
free the people from rational world that had been responsible for war and
hardship in the past. This is why the artists drew paintings that are like scenes
from a dream or a nightmare and even some of the artists (like Salvador Dali)
include imaginary creatures or twist realistic images by using strange colours.
